The second release in our acclaimed Signature Series, Barrel Bonfire has been personally selected by Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman to showcase a more heavily peated side of Arran Single Malt. This limited-edition Arran Whisky highlights the diversity of our spirit, combining bold peat smoke with innovative cask maturation and exceptional craftsmanship.
Peated to 42ppm, this distinctive island whisky offers a rich and complex interpretation of Arran Single Malt's character. Initially matured in Bourbon barrels from 2012, the whisky spent nearly five and a half years developing its foundation before being transferred into rare 115-litre Quarter Casks sourced from Chicago-based craft distiller Koval. After a further five and a half years of maturation, the result is a remarkably intense and full-bodied dram.
Quarter Casks are smaller than standard barrels. They create significantly greater interaction between spirit and oak, accelerating flavour development and delivering deeper complexity. This extended secondary maturation has enhanced both the smoky character and the influence of the wood, producing a whisky that is rich, layered and exceptionally expressive.
Expect waves of earthy peat smoke intertwined with charred citrus, vanilla sweetness, toasted oak and warming spice. The combination evokes the aroma of a bonfire built from seasoned barrel staves, while the signature fruit character of the Isle of Arran remains beautifully present beneath the smoke.
Bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring, Barrel Bonfire is presented in its purest form, allowing every layer of flavour to shine through.
Produced from a small number of rare Quarter Casks that have never been replicated within our inventory, this limited-edition Arran Single Malt offers collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to experience one of the most distinctive releases in the Signature Series.
