Burns Night Whisky Cocktails

Burns Night is a time to come together, enjoy good company and raise a glass to Scotland’s national poet. It's customary for whisky to be on the menu, but there isn't a rule that it has to be served neat. If you are looking for something a little more exotic, here are four whisky cocktails you can try to mark the occasion.

A Red, Red Rose

Fancy trying something a little different to your classic French Martini? How about a Scotch Martini? It's ideal to serve at the end of the Burns Supper, as a decadent dessert cocktail!

You will need:

37.5ml The Robert Burns Single Malt

12.5ml Chambord

125ml cranberry juice

20ml lime juice

5 Fresh Raspberries

Method:

  1. Shake all ingredients over ice and strain into an ice filled highball glass.
  2.  Garnish with a raspberry.

The Burnito

There's simply nothing more refreshing than this - perfect as an opener for the Burns night and the sweet/spicy flavours really whet your appetite!

You will need:

50ml Robert Burns Single Malt

25ml fresh lime juice

15ml sugar syrup

6 mint leaves

Ginger beer

 Method:

  1. Shake everything (except ginger beer) over ice and strain into ice filled highball glass.
  2.  Top up with ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge and a mint sprig.

Complex and super aromatic - perfect for drinkers who are not afraid to have their tastebuds shocked by something new.

You will need:

30 ml Arran 10 Year Old
30 ml Mezcal
15 ml Red Vermouth
10 ml Crème de Cacao White
5 ml agave syrup
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

 Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.
  2. Stir all ingredients over ice.
  3. Strain in pre-chilled glass.
  4. Serve with dark chocolate on the side.

The Sherry Cask Smoother

A luxurious concoction of cherries, hazelnuts and sherry cask whisky flavours. 

You will need:

40 ml Arran Sherry Cask “The Bodega”
20 ml Frangelico
20 ml Cherry Heering

 Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.
  2. Stir all ingredients over ice.
  3. Strain in a pre-chilled glass.
  4. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry.
