New addition to the Arran range - our Premium Single Cask selection handpicked by James MacTaggart. Only a handful of casks bottled every year, this is our second and final bottling of 2011. This time we have a Single Sherry Butt number 1997/719, distilled in 1997, individually numbered. Natural cask strength 56.3%. We take great pride in all of our whisky but occasionally James discovers a cask that truly stands out as the finest example of the Distillers art and oak cask in perfect harmony. He explains "The influence of the cask on the final character of whisky is widely acknnowledged and one of the key aspects of my job is to determine when the right balance between the spirit and the wood has been achieved. Only the most exceptional examples of our Single Malt are approved for bottling as our Premium Single Cask Selection. Each bottle has been individually numbered as a mark of authenticity. I hope you enjoy savouring it as much as I enjoyed finding it."

Tasting Note

* Colour - Ayrshire sunset

* Nose - coffee and chocolate overlaid by cedary notes. With water a note of sherbet lemon appears, with toffee apples to follow.

* Palate - really mellow with sweet oak and subtle sprice, followed by a floral note and delicate frutiness.

* Finish - a crescendo of spicy notes, after dinner mintiness and the clean lines of Arran spirit.
